Amy Winehouse's final recording, a duet with Tony Bennett entitled Body and Soul, is being released today (on what would have been her 28th birthday). Proceeds will be donated to The Amy Winehouse Foundation which is also launching today. The Foundation has been set up to support UK and overseas charities that provide help, support or care for young people, especially those with issues such as ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction.
The single's title is so apt. Amy, the first British female to win 5 Grammys, certainly put her body and soul into her singing and songwriting. This supremely talented vocalist, whose effortlessly soulful voice could convey raw emotion, was the antithesis of the X-Factor's slick but soulless manufactured pop.
